i am hoping to get more into portraiture photography, and want to know if this lens would be any good.
i have a canon rebel XTi...

No FD lens will work on a EOS camera ... only EF and EF-S lenses are designed for your camera
Here are links too both the EF and FD lenses .... you will see why the FD will not fit on a EOS camera .. notice the silver finger sticking out from the lens toward the interior of the camera.
