Are the wide angle/fisheye adapters worthwhile?
I'm considering one of these adapters from my 28mm f/2.8 lens. Is it worth the $40-$50? Right now I can't afford the $500+ for an actual fisheye lens.
I'm not really aiming for a fisheye effect. I was under the impression that images captured with a fisheye could then be converted to a wide image. What I'm really interested in is the wideangle aspect. Specifically, being able to capture a full building without backing way up.
Fisheye is a super tricky lens to get ahold of. Generally they're very expensive for the amount you'll probably end up using it. personally, I don't like the optekas. There isn't enough distortion. It isn't very sharp when used for wide angle either. But for the price, if you end up not liking it, you can resell it on craigslist for twenty bucks or so. Good luck.
Also, I own a wide angle lens, and it was worth the investment. I use it a lot, and it's great.
