What focal length will I end up with, with a Canon XTI camera, a 70-200mm lens and a 1.4 teleconverter?
What focal length will I end up with, with a Canon XTI camera, a 70-200mm lens and a 1.4 teleconverter? I'm told that a Canon digital XTI camera has a focal multiplication factor of 1.6 which makes a 70-200 lens a 112-320. What happens when I add a 1.4 teleconverter to the lens?
The camera does not have a focal length multiplication factor, it has a CROP factor of 1.6.
The lens is still has the focal length of 70-200mm. however the smaller APS size sensor see only part of the image coming through the lens.
It has the same narrow view of a 112-320 mm lens.
Adding the TC increses the focal length to 98-308mm
with the view of of a 156-448mm lens
It also decreases the effective aperture.
