Which macro camera lens is best?
I want a macro lens for my canon camera. I'm thinking about the 100 mm F/2.8. Is this a good lens? and what can I take pictures of with this? Can I use it as a telophoto lens as well as a close up?
I have several 1:1 macro lenses, 90mm, 100mm, 65mm, and 50mm, all have advantages and disadvantages. If this will be your only macro for the time being, and you have a crop sensor camera then you might want to consider a shorter lens than the 100mm. Around 50/60mm will offer more versatility when functioning as a portrait lens on a crop camera. On my crop sensor cameras I tend to use a 50mm or 65mm more than any other, and 90 or 100mm on full frame.
