can I get the same pictures with a macro that I get with my telephoto lens, just being able to stand closer>?
I have a telephoto lens, but don't like that I have to stand so far away to focus on suject, can I get the same photos with a macro lens? Will I be able to blur out the background like I can with the large telephoto?
A true macro lens will capture more intricate detail than a telephoto lens. Think of the macro lens as a microscope and the telephoto lens as binoculars. They will both bring the subject close, but one is designed to give very detailed, precise views at very near distances.
Yes, you will most definitely have a blurred background, and foreground, with a macro. You cannot avoid it as a matter of fact. In most cases you MUST mount the camera on a tripod when using a macro lens because the depth of field is VERY shallow and the slightest movement will also blur your subject.
