Is The Canon T2i 550D kit lens good?
should i just get the body and get some other glass? i shoot everything from portraits to landscape. i dont want to go over $1000 with Body+Lens. I will also be doing some filming?.

YES, the kit lens will do everything you want.
NO, the FD lens will not fit on the T2i body. It's an older type and not compatible. Also 50mm will not allow you to shoot landscapes, at least not the traditional looking types with wide vistas.
The kit comes with an EF-S 18-55mm IS lens. For the average person, it is sharp, quick to focus and covers the zoom range most people would use. On an APS-C system like the Canon EOS T2i the 18mm is wide enough for landscapes, around 35mm is common for full length portraits and 55mm is common for regular portraits.
That being said, keep in mind that portraits can be shot with any focal length. It's like asking which size paintbrush a painter should use. It depends on your understanding of photography, skill and own personal preference.
The IS means Image Stabilization. That will allow you to handhold the camera and shoot in most situations like indoor parties without a flash and still get a relatively clear photo. That isn't available on older lenses and can be quite useful.
Overall, I think the kit lens is quite good for the average person shooting a variety of subjects for their personal enjoyment. You will be perfectly happy with it. If you find you need more than 55mm you can always buy a second zoom lens later when you have another $200.
